JUDY RYMER  Producer/Director, Rymer Childs

Judy Rymer has been writing, directing and producing drama and documentary films for the past 25 years. Her work covers a wide range of subjects, concentrating on social and political history and science. In 2008, Rymer made RISKING OUR KIDS for ABC primetime, in 2007 she made FRANK AND DAZ TAKE ON THE WORLD for BBC SCOTLAND/SBS and directed an episode of WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? . In 2006 she made BEING CHEN KAIGE for DISCOVERY ASIA. In 2005 she made ALL POINTS OF THE COMPASS about the impact of war on one South Vietnamese family for ABC/ BBC Scotland. She has directed TIMEBOMB, a critique of the New Zealand welfare system for TVNZ; the award winning VICTORY OVER DEATH about artist, Colin McCahon (Gold Plaque at Chicago); several science and technology series including HOT CHIPS; CINEMA OF UNEASE for the British Film Institute’s CENTURY OF CINEMA series for Channel 4, officially selected for Cannes International Film Festival and Best Documentary in the 1996 NZ Film Awards. Rymer wrote and directed THE HISTORY OF THE BATHING COSTUME, screened on Discovery America; POLES APART, on the controversial Australian purchase of Jackson Pollock’s Blue Poles; and MESSAGE FROM MOREE for ABC, screened in 2004 to mark NAIDOC WEEK.

BEVAN CHILDS   Producer, Rymer Childs

After a twenty year history in Australian feature film and television drama industry, Bevan Childs joined Judy Rymer to form Rymer Childs in 2002. Since 2003 they have made MESSAGE FROM MOREE ABC, ALL POINTS OF THE COMPASS ABC/BBCScotland BEING CHEN KAIGE Discovery Asia, FRANK AND DAZ TAKE ON THE WORLD, SBS/BBCScotland. The company is currently developing projects with the ABC, TVNZ, BBC Scotland, France 5 and National Geographic. Their most recent production, RISKING OUR KIDS is for ABC Australia and concerns the views of leading Australian scientist, Fiona Stanley on the health of Australian children.
